Yes! Most cartridge
remanufacturers cut the cartridge in half in order to refill it with
toner. At CCS, we never split the cartridge in half! Doing so would create
a fractured seam, which is where 80% of reman cartridge leaks start.
Instead, we disassemble every cartridge by hand, replace ALL critical
components, and then reassemble by hand. Click here to see
more details. |

OEM stands for Original
Equipment Manufacturer. For instance, Hewlett Packard is an OEM. The other
three terms are often incorrectly used interchangeably. Here is the true
meaning of those words:
- Compatible - These are cartridges that are new, but are made by a
manufacturer that is NOT the OEM. Beware of these cartridges. They are
often made with inferior plastic cores.
- Remanufactured - These cartridges are often used because of their
low cost and environmental friendliness. However, the remanufacturing
process usually involves cutting the plastic core in half. After
refilling, the two halves are then glued or clipped back together. This
"fracture zone" is where 80% of leaks occur.
- Renewed - CCS Certified Renewed cartridges are disassembled by hand,
all critical components are replaced, the cartridges is then reassembled
by hand and the highest grade of toner is used to fill the
cartridge.

Yield is the expected number of
5% covered pages
a toner cartridge can print before print quality suffers. The ISO
(the International
Organization for Standardization) set this 5% measurement to help
manufacturers clearly state how many pages their cartridges could print.
Click here to see examples of different percentages of
page coverage. |

Cost Per Page (aka: CPP) is
determined by dividing the price of the toner cartridge by the expected
yield. Click here for an example of how two different printers'
CPP affect the bottom line. |

It's better to return your
empty toner cartridges to CCS than to either the OEM or a recycling center
because of our proprietary renewal process. OEMs typically grind up empty
toner cartridges or ship them overseas. At CCS, we actually REUSE the
toner cartridge instead of just recycling it. Click here for more
information about what we call "pseudo-cycling." |

Split cartridges are ones that
have been cut in half in order to refill them with new toner. Click here for
photos and more information. |

You will probably be surprised
to know that most OEMs either grind up returned cartridges or ship them
overseas. Click here for
